![]() ![]() ![]() The single-player campaign is designed to bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens so it would have been fun to share that experience with a friend. That’s not too much of dealbreaker, but if you’re hoping to play through it with a friend then you’re out of luck. Unfortunately, there is currently no way to play co-op in the campaign. ![]() Battlefront 2 is rapidly gaining players again so don’t go in at a disadvantage. Whatever you decide to do, at least Arcade mode has you covered.Īs an added bonus, you can also earn experience towards leveling up Star Cards in the offline modes, so that’s a great option for those of you who are late getting to the game. We also have some dueling between Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker on Yavin 4.Ĭhoose the co-op option will give you the same things to choose from but you’ll instead be teaming up with your partner instead of going against. There are also Battle Scenarios you can take part in that will help recreate events from the films, at least some of the scenarios do. Versus will let you customize pretty much every single thing in the game including troops available and team sizes. In Arcade mode, to play split-screen co-op, all you have to do is click on Arcade and go to either co-op or versus. How to Play Split-Screen in Battlefront 2ĮAYou can play Battlefront 2 with a friend. There’s really no way to get confused so that’s good at least. While more and more games move away from including a split-screen option, it would have been nice to see an option for it available in the single-player campaign.Īt the very least, Star Wars Battlefront 2 doesn’t make things confusing and will actually tell you how many players you play with on each of the three modes. This means if you own the PC version you only have your online friends to play with. On top of that, the split-screen option is only available for the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game. Fortunately, split-screen does exist, but you can’t play online against other players with it.Īs it stands right now, and likely well into the future, the only way to play split-screen multiplayer in Star Wars Battlefront 2 is through Arcade mode. With more and more players picking up the game again, whether it’s because you picked it up from a recent sale, or you’re playing it through EA Access, you might want to do so with a friend. So there's a myriad of reasons why Star Wars: Battlefront II may not have split-screen for offline play, but at least the game will still feature online play for PC.Going into 2020, Star Wars Battlefront 2 is in a much better state than it was at launch. Since EA no longer releases games on Steam, there's also a matter of native controller support for PC, which you lose out on if you don't integrate Steamworks into your game. In this case, we don't know if DICE decided to just avoid adding in split-screen for PC, or if they ran into some other time constraints and decided it wasn't worth it, or there was some other roadblock to contend with. In fact, if a game has multiplayer but doesn't have split-screen, it means the developers had to purposefully remove or disable it, since it's automatically enabled at the source level. For instance, we know that in the Unreal Engine (since the release of Unreal Engine 3 more than a decade ago), it already has split-screen built natively into its design, no matter what platform you're making your game for. Now there's really no telling how the platform pipelines and support are set up within the Frostbite engine to make split-screen play viable on PC. However, EA decided to opt out of that feature for Star Wars: Battlefront II. The reasons for this is kind of baffling given that with Big Picture Mode becoming more and more popular with people playing their PC games on big screen TVs instead of monitors (including yours truly) it would seem like having the split-screen option would really lure in more PC gamers. Game Informer was then able to confirm with Electronic Arts that the split-screen mode in the upcoming title is only going to be available for the Xbox One and PS4. This was later retracted and updated to say that the split-screen was console exclusive and not Xbox exclusive. ![]() Eventually, the Xbox News Wire posted up an entry saying that the split-screen mode was exclusive to the Xbox One. Quite naturally, journalists were hounding down EA for answers about whether or not the PC version of DICE's Star Wars: Battlefront II would have split-screen. ![]()
